Legionella Water Walk

A 24-point walkround checklist for hot and cold water, outlets, cooling towers, other systems that make spray, and the records. Follow the water from where it comes in to where it comes out and answer Yes, No or Not applicable for each point. Every No becomes a finding, ranked High, Medium or Low, which you can export as a spreadsheet.

A water walk is not a risk assessment, which needs a competent person (HBA Regulations, 2022, regulation 6). A careful walk finds many of the same problems, and it finds them this week.

Hospital, clinic or frail care site: use the healthcare limits (55 °C at outlets and returns, no more than 12 hours of cold water stored). ASC treats frail care as healthcare.

Legionella Responsible Person Training (Intermediate), R2 950: ten hours online on turning these findings into a risk assessment and a written water management plan.
