Line QC Check Sheet Builder

FS60-0602 practice tool · Manufacturing line QC

Line QC check sheet builder

Choose the line, the product and every automatic reject device. The tool builds the check plan, the line-clearance record and first-off release card, the shift check sheet and a challenge-test table. When a check fails, the hold helper works out how much product to hold and where it is. Your work stays on this device; nothing is sent anywhere.

This free practice tool is for factory QC inspectors, lab assistants moving to line QC and the team leaders who sign line checks. It follows the checks taught in the FS60-0602 course: line clearance at every start-up and changeover (FSSC 22000 Version 7, 2.5.9(c)), batch and date codes under the labelling regulations (R146, regs 11 and 12), checkweighers and pack weights under the Legal Metrology Regulations (GN R877 and SANS 458), metal detector and X-ray tests, seals and closures. It comes with the Isipho Beverages & Snacks case (a fictional snack and beverage factory in Hammarsdale, KwaZulu-Natal), or you can build the sheet for your own line.

How to use this tool
  1. Line. Choose the Isipho case or your own line. Pick the product, the run and every automatic reject device, and tick the CCPs and OPRPs that sit on this line.
  2. Check plan. The tool assembles every check with a frequency, a limit and what to do if it fails. Frequencies marked [PJ] are typical practice, not law: change them to match your HACCP plan. In the Isipho case, compare your plan with Isipho’s.
  3. Start-up. Complete the line-clearance record and the first-off release card. The tool checks the code against the production date and shelf life, the film version, the first-off weights and both signatures.
  4. Run sheet. Write actual values, not ticks, for every planned check. Add events such as a jam, a repair or a re-check.
  5. Hold. When a check fails, enter the last good check and where the stock is. The tool shows the working, the total on hold and the actions in order.
  6. Print and export. Print the sheet with your results, or blank for the floor, or download it as a spreadsheet.

Best on a laptop or tablet. On a phone, the tables stack into cards and the printable sheet slides sideways. Isipho, Khanya Fresh and every person named are fictional. Limits marked as case data come from the Isipho case, not from law: use your own site’s HACCP plan, specifications and validation at work.

// The course behind this tool

Run every line check with the limit, the reason and the hold behind it

This tool is one practical from the QC Inspector Course for Food and Beverage Manufacturing (FS60-0602). The course follows a QC inspector through a real shift, built on South African law and FSSC 22000 Version 7:

  • Specifications, defect classes, AQL and microbiological sampling plans
  • Calibration, SANS 458 average-quantity rules, fill targets and X-bar/R charts
  • Line clearance, labels and codes, metal detectors, X-ray and every automatic reject, seals and seams
  • Beverage and heat-treated product checks, clean and allergen-safe restarts, NCRs, holds, rework and CCP records

This tool stays free. The check sheet it builds is a practice record: your site’s HACCP plan and procedures set the checks you run at work.
