Sensory Analyser
Read a triangle test, duo-trio, tetrad or paired comparison the way lesson 2.8 teaches. Enter the test, the side, alpha, the number of assessors and the number correct, then your own reading. The analyser then gives the exact binomial p-value, the minimum number correct for significance at that panel size and alpha, and what the result does and does not show. Practice only. Nothing you type here is sent to ASC, and your last entry is kept on this device.
This analyser is the sensory step, Module 2, of Intermediate Food Product Development (NPD), a 16 hour online course, R3 950.
The lesson’s other examples
Predict, then check. Decide whether the result is significant at your alpha and roughly where the p-value sits before the analyser shows its answer.
The lesson’s other examples
Flagging groups that hold 20 percent or more of the panel is an industry convention, not a standard. Write the threshold you will use into the analysis plan before the data arrive.
For each attribute, the number of consumers who said too little and too much, and the mean liking of each group. The just-about-right group is the rest of the panel.
Predict, then check. For at least one group, enter your JAR-group mean, mean drop and weighted penalty. Then set your priority order, 1 for the first fix, 2 for the next and so on, and leave groups you would not flag as not flagged.
The lesson’s other examples
The question, the test, n, beta and the pd maximum are fixed, written and signed before the first set is served. Changing any of them after the result is in is choosing the answer.
The question set in advancePredict, then check. Work your own pd estimate and make your call before the analyser shows its result.
Your callThis analyser is the sensory step, Module 2, of Intermediate Food Product Development (NPD): Running Projects in a Food Factory, ASC’s 16 hour online course. In the course you choose the right sensory test for each project question, set the action standard before anyone tastes, and read the result without claiming more than it shows. You do it while taking a retailer’s plant-based range through the gates on a certified site. R3 950.
