About Course

If your PRP manual still cites ISO/TS 22002-4:2013, it cites a withdrawn document. ISO 22002-4:2025 replaced it in July 2025, it cannot be used without ISO 22002-100:2025, and from 1 May 2027 FSSC 22000 audits of packaging sites are against Version 7 and this 2025 pair.

This 12-hour online ISO 22002-4 course takes you through every PRP clause of the pair as it applies on a converting floor. You finish with a scored gap assessment of your own site, ready for your Technical Manager.

Is it for me? Yes, if you are a food safety coordinator, QA supervisor, technical officer, or production or engineering manager at a packaging site preparing for FSSC 22000 Version 7, category I.

After the course you can:

  • Gap assess a packaging site against ISO 22002-4:2025 read with ISO 22002-100:2025.
  • Write PRP procedures that match what happens on the floor, on every shift.
  • Use monitoring and verification records, and their trends, to show an auditor that your PRPs work.

Six modules, 36 lessons:

  • What changed in 2025, and site, layout and building standards
  • Utilities, waste, equipment, maintenance and calibration
  • Purchased materials, suppliers and contamination control
  • Hygiene zoning, environmental monitoring and allergen controls
  • Cleaning, pest control, personnel hygiene, warehousing and transport
  • Rework, traceability, withdrawal and verifying that PRPs work

Will it work in my plant? Every lesson is set on Mzansi Pack, a fictional converter in Germiston built from real audit patterns on South African sites. Its 35 case packs come from events you will recognise: an ink odour complaint, a laminate released before cure, a blade tip beside a slitter, two print versions in one pallet.

What you get: a gap assessment tool that scores 45 rows, ranks the gaps, gives a readiness figure and exports to Excel. Knowledge checks, games, a proctored final and a marked workshop assignment, each passed at 70 percent with three attempts. Then a QR-verified ASC certificate.

Is it worth R2 450? That is the once-off price, with no VAT charged. A critical nonconformity at stage 2 fails the audit and the full certification audit is repeated. At a certified site it suspends the certificate within 3 working days. For the whole scheme, take ASC’s FSSC 22000 packaging course. To get the PRPs working on the floor, take this one.

Buy ISO 22002-4:2025 and ISO 22002-100:2025 to use alongside it. The course does not reproduce ISO text.

Course Content

Module 1: Module 1: What changed in 2025, and site, layout and building standards
Why the 2013 technical specification was withdrawn, how ISO 22002-4:2025 and ISO 22002-100:2025 work as a pair, and where FSSC 22000 Version 7 places a category I packaging site. Clauses 4 and 5 on a converter: the site boundary and its surroundings, the building shell, inside the halls, and storage and segregation of materials and chemicals.

  • From a 2013 technical specification to a 2025 pair of standards
  • Reading the pair clause by clause
  • Where FSSC 22000 Version 7 fits for a category I site
  • Boundaries, environment and the building shell
  • Inside the halls: structures, fittings and where equipment sits
  • Storage areas and segregation
  • Module 1 knowledge check
  • Find the clause

Module 2: Module 2: Utilities, waste, equipment, maintenance and calibration
Clause 6 and clause 8 on a converter: mapping utilities that reach product, water, room air, compressed air and light, and waste, recycling and waste containers. Clause 9 on a converter: equipment suitability and capability, the FSSC 22000 V7 rules on buying and changing equipment, maintenance that does not contaminate, and calibration and verification of measuring equipment.

Module 3: Module 3: Purchased materials, suppliers and contamination control
Clause 10 on a converter: risk-based supplier approval and monitoring, emergency procurement, specifications and declarations of compliance, incoming checks, recycled input criteria and outsourced services. Clause 12 of ISO 22002-4:2025 on a converter: chemical contamination, set-off, retained solvent, adhesive cure, migration, functional packaging, physical contamination, blades, glass and brittle plastic, and foreign body detection.

Module 4: Module 4: Hygiene zoning, environmental monitoring and allergen controls
Why a converter needs a hygiene programme, hygiene zoning as a method, and designing, reading and reviewing an environmental monitoring programme that meets FSSC 22000 V7 clause 2.5.7. The FSSC 22000 V7 allergen management plan on a converter: the allergen list, risk assessment, artwork and print control for allergen statements, training, verification and review.

Module 5: Module 5: Cleaning, pest control, personnel hygiene, warehousing and transport
Clauses 13, 7 and 14 on a converter: cleaning and disinfection programmes, pest control from prevention to eradication, and personal hygiene, workwear, health, visitors and induction. Clause 11 on a converter: storage and warehousing of printed and finished packaging, stock rotation under FSSC 22000 V7, dispatch and line clearance, and vehicle and container checks.

Module 6: Module 6: Rework, traceability, withdrawal and verifying that PRPs work
Clause 17 of ISO 22002-4:2025 on rework, the difference between rework, recycling and recycled input, traceability and mass balance on a converter, and a converter’s part in withdrawal and recall under FSSC 22000 V7. Monitoring, verification and validation, PRP procedures that match the floor, routine PRP inspections under FSSC 22000 V7 2.5.12, verification schedules and trends, how auditors test PRPs and grade findings, and the course gap assessment tool.
