Fire Safety and Evacuation for Accommodation

An interactive, self-paced online course for guesthouse, lodge, B&B and hotel teams. Learners inspect a guest room and an escape route for fire hazards, match extinguishers to fires, work through load shedding, laundry and gas risks, watch animated scenarios and answer picture-based quizzes.

Owners, managers, front desk and night staff, housekeeping, kitchen and maintenance staff in guest accommodation.

What the course covers

• Module 1 · How fires start: The fire triangle, the classes of fire, and the everyday causes of fires in guesthouses, lodges and B&Bs, including load shedding.
• Module 2 · Prevent, detect and alert: Daily habits and checks that stop fires starting, smoke detectors and alarms, gas safety, and what to do the moment you discover a fire.
• Module 3 · Using fire equipment: Which extinguisher for which fire, how to use one with the PASS method, how to smother a pan fire, and when not to fight a fire at all.
• Module 4 · Evacuating guests: Escape routes, the guest register, getting sleeping guests out at night, helping guests who need assistance, and the roll call at the assembly point.

How it works

4 interactive modules of 40 to 40 minutes each, about 2 hours 40 minutes in total. Each module is followed by a picture-based quiz (70% to pass). A 20-question final assessment (80% to pass) closes the course and unlocks a QR-verified ASC certificate of achievement.

The final assessment is proctored. You need a device with a working camera and microphone, and a quiet place to write it. Copying and pasting are blocked, and the recording is reviewed before your certificate is released.

This is a non-accredited awareness course with a QR-verified ASC certificate of achievement. It does not replace hands-on extinguisher training, fire drills or your local fire department’s requirements.
