Guest Data Protection (POPIA) for Front Desk and Reservations

An interactive, self-paced online course on the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) for front desk, reservations and guesthouse staff. Learners inspect an illustrated reception desk for privacy risks, sort safe and unsafe practices, watch animated scenarios and answer picture-based quizzes.

Who it is for

Front desk and reservations staff, guesthouse and B&B owners and managers, and anyone who handles guest bookings, identity documents or payment details.

What the course covers

• Module 1 · POPIA at the front desk: What counts as personal information, which information needs extra care, and who is responsible for it in a guesthouse or hotel.
• Module 2 · Collecting and using guest information: Collect only what you need at booking and check-in, tell guests why, keep it only as long as necessary, and market only with permission.
• Module 3 · Keeping guest information safe: Security safeguards for paper, screens, phones and card details, and what to check before information leaves the building.
• Module 4 · Requests, questions and breaches: Answer questions about guests without breaching privacy, handle guests’ own requests, and respond fast when information is lost or exposed.

How it works

4 interactive modules of 40 to 45 minutes each, about 2 hours 45 minutes in total. Each module is followed by a picture-based quiz (70% to pass). A 20-question final assessment (80% to pass) closes the course and unlocks a QR-verified ASC certificate of achievement.

The final assessment is proctored. You need a device with a working camera and microphone, and a quiet place to write it. Copying and pasting are blocked, and the recording is reviewed before your certificate is released.
